7 THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT SELENA GOMEZ
You know Selena Gomez from her breakout role on the Disney Channel series, Wizards of Waverly Place, 18 Teen Choice Awards and 7 million albums and 22 million singles sold worldwide, her on and off again relationship with Justin Bieber and as one of the most followed celebrities on Instagram. #1 Born in 1992, Selena Gomez was named after legendary Tejano singer, Selena who was portrayed by Jennifer Lopez in her first breakout film role.
#2 In addition to her successful acting and music career, Selena’s multiple endorsement deals with brands such as Pantene, Coach and Puma has contributed to a personal wealth of $50 million. Selena wasn’t always well off. Her parents struggled during her early childhood. She remembers helping her mom look for quarters to buy gas and buying canned food at the local dollar store for dinner. #3 But Selena also has great memories with her mom while growing up. She told Vogue in 2017 that her first memory is of her mom painting. She also shared some wisdom and advice that she has received from her parents.
#3 After being diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease, Selena underwent a kidney transplant. Her kidney’s donor is her best friend, Francia Raisa. They sat down with the Today Show in 2017 to share their journey that brought them even closer together.
#4 Selena isn’t only a star in front of the cameras, she’s also works behind the scenes as an executive producer of the hit Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why.
